Interview
Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm originally from Indiana and I moved to LA to pursue acting.I've played professionally overseas in three countries and I have a deep love for the sport of basketball. In my spare time I love going to the beach and enjoying the sun.I can be pretty random and just in case anyone is wondering, I'm a libra!
What was it like playing basketball overseas?
Playing overseas was one of the best experiences of my life! It's a unique experience because you leave your friends and family to move to a brand new place without knowing anyone there. You put your trust into an organization and your teammates to have your back and show you places to go or places to avoid. It's different because for the most part you get a lot of free time outside of practice, games, and lifting.I've gotten to meet so many people and try many different foods. The culture is different in each location and I love learning about what others think about the United States. One of my favorite things to do is travel.Basketball is beautiful because it can open so many doors around the world.
Why did you switch from basketball to acting?
Fun fact, I did two commercials when I was a little girl but I was extremely shy so my parents took me out of that and let me decide on playing sports.Once I grew up and had to deal with interviews and socializing I broke out of my shy shell. The reality is that I can't play basketball forever.I can include it in my life down the line in different ways but I missed out on opportunities when I was younger due to all my time and effort being focused on ball. Now's the time for me to swap the two worlds unless they are combined in some way.
Tell us about "Big Shot“.
Big Shot is a dramedy family show that takes place in the basketball world. Big Shot is a roller-coaster of emotions starting from men's college basketball to an all-girls private high school. High school is a lot of emotions in itself, but playing sports at an elite school has that much more juice to it. There's so many relatable situations that you should tune in starting April 16th on Disney+.
Are you and Savannah a like in any way?
We are alike in a few different ways! Off the court we aren't as much alike than on the court. She's got a chip on her shoulder and I was the same way. There's more than meets the eye with her though and she stays with good intentions.
Who is on you playlist right now and what was the last thing you binge watched ? My favorite is DVSN. I don't really stay with a playlist on deck because I like to shuffle different genres. One day I'll put on some R&B and then next I might skip around and play Country. It all depends on my mood but when I'm working out I usually play Rap. The last thing I binge watched was All American.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I am definitely a tomboy but I love to switch it up and be a nice sporty and chic mix. I love wearing dresses and jumpers with heels but I'm taller than the average man so I'll usually throw on some nice sneakers to stay comfy.
What have you learned about yourself during lockdown that surprised you?
I learned that I can relax at home and be totally happy. I used to be on the go constantly and always surrounded by friends but now I enjoy my own space. I redecorated and got new furniture and I was so excited! I really enjoy that and I'm surprised because I have never been a homebody.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is salmon and sweet potatoes with bbq sauce.
